The Journal especially welcomes papers that are related to recent technological advances. The contributions, which may be analytical, experimental or numerical, should be of significance to the progress of mechanical engineering. The majority of the papers published in the journal are full-length articles of considerable depth. Another important format is the Technical Brief, which is intended to serve as a means for the rapid communication of recent developments in an abridged form. Comments on published papers may be submitted in the form of discussion, which is subject to a rebuttal by the author.
